Edith Piaf lived a life straight from a Hollywood movie; a troublesome childhood gave way to singing success, peppered with tragedy along the way. But Piaf’s story was not based in LA, nor was she American; she was French and, for some, she embodied the qualities of that proud nation. The diminutive songstress went by the name of ‘the little sparrow’ but there was nothing minuscule about her voice or the legacy she left behind.
