Despair doesn’t just harm—it obliterates. Unlike Greed, which consumes outwardly, or Wrath, which erupts violently, Despair eats away at the core of a person. It strips away hope, resilience, and the ability to fight back. A person lost to Despair cannot recover, making it the most final and inescapable sin.

Long ago, four ancient gods—Time, Creation, Destruction, and Stasis—each appointed a cadre of angels to shield humanity from its own darkness. These angels were meant to channel and contain mortal failings, preventing hearts from falling prey to ruin. But centuries of absorbing this darkness took a toll, warping them into living vessels of what they once opposed. Their once-radiant halos grew tarnished, and they now walk among mortals—broken guardians bound by the very forces they were created to resist.
