Eternal Father, Strong to Save is a hymn often known as Royal Navy hymn and United States Navy hymn, also known by the last line of the first verse "For Those in Peril on the Sea".
The text of "Eternal Father, Strong to Save" was written in 1860 by William Whiting while the music in 1861 by John b. Dykes, an Anglican pastor who composed "Melita" for this hymn.
