The video was recorded in January 1964, three years after they recorded their album Jazz Pictures At An Exhibition that also featured Kenny Clarke on drums. The trio consists of Pim Jacobs - piano, Ruud Jacobs - double bass and Wim Overgaauw - guitar.
Rita Reys became known in the 1960's as Europe's First Lady of Jazz, after winning the festival award of the Antibes Juan-Les-Pins jazz festival. She was The Netherlands' most successful jazz artist and performed and recorded with Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers, Lester Young, Johnny Griffin, Pim Jacobs, Rogier van Otterloo and many others. She died in on 28 July 2013, three weeks after she gave her final concert in Amsterdam.
Kenny Clarke (1914-1985) was a jazz drummer and bandleader. He was a major innovator of the bebop style of drumming. He played with the major innovators of the bop style, Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie, Thelonious Monk, Curly Russell and others.
