Description
Track 9 from their first and only album “Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs” released in 1970 copyright Atco Records. Considered a classic of blues rock, it featured Duane Allman as guest guitarist on eleven of the songs and is considered Eric Clapton’s masterpiece. After becoming fast friends through mutual respect for each other’s playing, Clapton asked Allman to join his new band permanently, but Duane declined. He died the following year. Although it was initially considered a critical and commercial flop, the album achieved Gold status a year later and has since gone Platinum. It was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2000. Written by Eric Clapton & Bobby Whitlock and produced by Tom Dowd & Derek and the Dominos. Recorded from the 40th anniversary remaster released in 2010. RIP Duane Allman, Tom Dowd & Carl Radle. Featuring:
Eric Clapton – Lead vocals, lead, rhythm & acoustic guitars
Bobby Whitlock – Keyboards, acoustic guitar & background vocals, lead vocal on “Thorn Tree in the Garden”
Carl Radle - Bass & percussion
Jim Gordon - Drums & percussion, piano on “Layla”
Special Guests:
Duane Allman – Slide, lead, rhythm & acoustic guitars

(Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Yeah, yeah
Gotta find me a way, get me back to yesterday
How can I ever hope to forget you?
Won't you show me a place where I can hide my lonely face?
I know you're gonna break my heart if I let you
(Why does love got to be so sad, why does love got to be so sad?)
(Why does love got to be so sad, why does love got to be so sad?)
Like a moth to the flame, like a song without a name
I've never been the same since I met you (woah, whoa, yeah)
Like a bird on the wing, got a brand new song to sing
I can't keep from singin' about you, yeah
(Why does love got to be so sad, why does love got to be so sad?)
(Why does love got to be so sad, why does love got to be so sad?)
(Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I'm beginnin' to see what a fool you made of me
I might have to break the law when I find you (yes, I will)
Stop runnin' away, I got a better game to play
You know I can't go on livin' without you, no
(Why does love got to be so sad, why does love got to be so sad?)
(Why does love got to be so sad, why does love got to be so, ooh, hoo)
Yeah, whoa, yeah, yeah
Why does love got to be so?
