Description
Come Together is a song written primarily by John Lennon. The song is on the Beatles 1969 album, Abbey Road. The song reached the top of the charts in the US and was later covered by several other artists such as Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones.
As for the wacky lyrics, don't try to interpret them. In a 1980 interview John himself said, "It's gobbledygook.
'Come Together' was an expression that Tim Leary had come up with and he just asked me to write a campaign song. (For office he was running for in Calif.) I tried and tried but I couldn't come up with one. I came up with this, 'Come Together' which would have been no good to him. You couldn't have a campaign song like that, right?"
I am a Delbert McClinton fan so I'm uploading his version. Although it may not be the best I'm sure that many people have never heard his version.
And maybe you also didn't know that Del taught John Lennon to play the harmonica.
