Back in high school, I used to paint in oils. Cézanne was the artist I admired most, and I devoured everything I could find about his work and his life. Under the golden light of southern France, he spent his days gazing at mountains, at fruit, at the world itself.
Everything, he said, was made up of spheres, cones, and cylinders—a concept that few of his contemporaries could grasp.
Yet, in time, he would be recognized as a pioneer of Impressionism, a force of nature who shaped the vision of Picasso, Van Gogh, Chagall, and so many others.
But what did he mean by "to love again"?
As a high school kid, I had no clue. The weight of that word—love—the perspective of an artist, it was all beyond me.
Youth is full of pain.You get hurt, you get lost, you doubt everything. But as you grow older, that pain fades. They say time heals all wounds. Maybe it does.
But now, as I approach sixty, I feel a different kind of decline. My body, my stamina, even my drive—they’re not quite what they used to be.
And then, something happens.
A song from my past plays, and suddenly, I’m wrapped in it. A familiar melody, a lyric I once sang under my breath, a rhythm that carried me through late nights and long summers. Even the pain of youth takes on a certain sweetness.
And finally, I understand.
"To love again"—it’s not about nostalgia.It’s about looking back at your younger self, embracing everything—mistakes, struggles, uncertainty—and holding it close, without regret.
Through music, I find myself loving my youth all over again.

ポール・セザンヌの言葉が、僕の脳裏にこびりついている。

「絵を描くとは、もう一度、愛することである。」

高校時代、僕は油絵を描いていた。セザンヌは僕が一番尊敬していた画家で、彼の作品やエピソードを夢中になって調べた。南フランスの陽光の下で、彼はひたすら山を、フルーツを、そして世界を見つめ続けた。すべてのものは、球体、円錐、円柱でできている——そんな彼の抽象の概念は、当時ほとんど理解されなかった。

でも、やがて彼は印象派の先駆者と呼ばれ、ピカソやゴッホ、シャガールといった後の巨匠たちに決定的な影響を与えた。

それにしても、「もう一度、愛すること」とは、どういう意味なんだろう。

高校生の僕には、まったく分からなかった。「愛」という言葉の重みも、アーティストの視点も。

青春は、痛みを伴うものだ。傷つき、迷い、何もかもが不確かだった。でも、大人になるにつれて、あの頃の痛みは遠ざかる。時間が傷を癒す、とはよく言ったものだ。

だが、やがて60歳を前にした今、別の種類の衰えを感じる。身体も、精神力も、かつてのようにはいかない。

そんな時、ふと気づいた。あの頃聴いていた音楽が、僕を包み込むように響いてくることがある。甘酸っぱい記憶とともに。何度も聴いたあのメロディ、あの歌詞、あのリズム——それは、青春の痛みさえも懐かしく思わせる。

そして僕は、ようやく分かった。

「もう一度、愛すること」——それは、過去をただ懐かしむことではない。あの頃の自分を、ありのままに受け入れ、もう一度抱きしめることなんだ。

僕は、あの時の音楽で、青春をもう一度、愛している。

AORシリーズ第5弾へようこそ。

今回のセットリストは、Earth, Wind & Fireの「Brazilian Rhyme」 を皮切りに、セルジオ・メンデス、デオダート（Eumir Deodato） など、サンバやボサノヴァの色濃い選曲になったと思う。リズムの心地よさと、海風を感じるような軽やかさを楽しんでもらえたら嬉しい。
