Description
Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR) was an American rock band active in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The band consisted of John Fogerty (lead vocals, lead guitar), Tom Fogerty (rhythm guitar), Stu Cook (bass), and Doug Clifford (drums). Known for their distinctive blend of swamp rock, southern rock, and roots rock, CCR became famous for their concise, energetic songs with strong melodies, political lyrics, and driving rhythms.
Despite originating from El Cerrito, California, their music often evoked imagery of the American South, particularly the Mississippi Delta. Some of their most iconic songs include "Bad Moon Rising," "Proud Mary," "Fortunate Son," "Green River," and "Have You Ever Seen the Rain?" Their sound was marked by John Fogerty’s raspy voice and clean, bluesy guitar work.

The band achieved massive success in a short time, releasing a series of hit albums and singles between 1968 and 1972. However, internal tensions—especially between John Fogerty and his bandmates—led to Tom Fogerty’s departure in 1971 and the group’s eventual breakup in 1972.
