Description

Lyrics
deep on a Sunday night, don’t think im doing alright
try to pull my thoughts together, cause can’t help but wonder
if i didn’t fuck it up, if i didn’t mess the plot
oh it's not what i intended
cause darling, im crazy bout you

i made a mistake, a decision born of pain
i missed your love entirely, looking back, i see so clearly
i’ve done some work on that, not to, see through red and black
oh i wish that you could feel it
cause darling, im crazy bout ya

there’s plenty of love songs, much better than this one
But i still needed to write it, cause i wanted you to have it
i don’t have much to say, just my heart can’t seem to get away
oh i wish this could be easier, cause darling, im crazy bout ya

i see you, to see me
i lose you, to find me
it’s delicate, it’s gentle and it’s pure
i’m guilty, cause, darlin im crazy about ya

i'll let daisies grow, as the heart erodes
and i wonder sometimes, are you there?
do you wonder it to? does it scare you as well?
and i wonder sometimes, are you there?

cause darlin, im crazy bout ya

About the song (from Chris)
This one is called ‘crazy bout ya’ and is out now. I wrote it in 2024, feeling lonely and kinda losing the plot. I was dealing with regret for the way I’d shown up in love and knew that I’d made mistakes. Not mistakes of malice but born of pain. From things outside of my control. Sometimes hindsight is a wild thing and it’s okay to regret your behaviour because with action it will lead to growth.

In the middle of these reflections one night I caught a vibe and this song popped out. My buddy Josh would often come over late on a week night to hang out. At one point he’d dropped off some foam for my acoustic allowing me to build new rhythms on the guitar and create a different type of acoustic feeling. The song definitely wouldn’t exist without that (thanks Josh).

I wanted it to feel somber but strong. There is such strength in vulnerability and the song needed to represent that in its groove. This EP was all about making music that I wanted to hear, it’s delicate, it explores sound and provides a gentle experience through big life lessons. This one is probably the most classic ‘acoustic’, stealing from old school folk singers and strumming patterns (nods to Gregory Alan Isakov and John Paul White).

Fun fact, the final vocal and guitar is actually from the original demo and played completely live (you can see the take in the video on YouTube). It didn’t feel right tracking them separate and props to Jackson for making the call to keep it.
