Text from the Album Insert:
"How often would I have gathered the children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!" (Matt. 23:37). I have always loved the imagery of that scripture, but until I became a foster parent, I was unable to understand how Jesus might have felt toward those who resisted his teachings. Eight teenage foster kids. Rough kids. Abused kids. Tragic stores. Even though they were not ours from the beginning of our lives, Wade and I have loved them the best we've known how. We've studied psychology and behavior, and we've warned and counseled them all in an effort to protect them from making mistakes. But we've come to understand that in certain instances, there is nothing we can do but be there to love them as they reap the consequences of their behavior. We imagine that's how it is with Heavenly Father, too. He continually calls us to "come in from the storm", but we often resist his invitations. Isn't it comforting to know he's always there when our prodigal hearts return? That kind of love is powerful! I hope this song brings comfort to struggling parents. Don't give up. You're in good company!"
