Actor, comedian, and Cal State Northridge alumnus Richard "Cheech" Marin (Class of '78) performs his satirical song "Mexican Americans" at the VPAC Opening Gala, accompanied by his wife, acclaimed Russian pianist Natasha Marin. Recorded January 29, 2011. Mr. Marin's extensive film and TV credits include "Up in Smoke," "Nash Bridges," and "Machete." He was named a Distinguished Alumnus of CSUN in 2004.
In 2017, The Valley Performing Arts Center would become known as Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts in recognition of a significant gift from the Nazarian family.
