Ésta es de cómo Santa María protegió sus reliquias para que no se dañaran entre otras muchas que quedaron malparadas.

"Santa María, por su virtud, guarda bien sus reliquias, de las que muchos reciben salud."

Sobre esto diré un milagro maravillosamente grande que le ocurrió al rey Don Alfonso.
Fue a guardar en Sevilla reliquias de la Madre e Hija de Dios junto a las de otros santos. Eran, Dios me valga, muchas esas reliquias de Santa María y de otros santos y santas, por cuya mediación obraba Dios milagros; aquel día las encerró el Rey y se marchó sin mandar que las vigilasen con frecuencia.

Partió el Rey para Castilla, donde pasó diez años antes de tornar a Sevilla, donde encontró muy dañadas las reliquias a pesar de estar envueltas en paños.
Pero la Virgen preciosa responde de lo suyo: Las otras reliquias halló con grandes daños y las arquetas que las guardaban desbaratadas, pero las de Santa María estaban bien conservadas, que ella evita con cuidado que sus cosas se dañen.

Cuando vio esto, el rey Don Alfonso loó con fervor a Jesucristo, Señor de los señores, y sintió crecer desde entonces su amor por la Virgen con tal fuerza que dudo de que puedan cambiar jamás sus sentimientos.

I will tell of a great and wondrous miracle, which King Alfonso witnessed. In Seville he stored some relics of the mother and daughter of God, and of some Saints as, God willing, I will tell.

There were many relics of Holy Mary and many Saints, through which God performed many miracles; but the King locked them away the day he departed, and told no-one to keep watch over them.

The King went away to Castile, and stayed there for ten years; and then he came back to Seville, where he found the relics badly damaged, even though they were wrapped in cloth; but the precious Virgin looks after her own.

He found all the other relics badly damaged, and the boxes containing them in a poor state; but Holy Mary's relics were untouched, for harm easily swept away from what is hers. When King Alfonso saw this, he gave great thanks to Jesus Christ, the Lord of Lords; and he felt such for the Virgin that I am sure that his heart will never change.
