Australasia region: Brolga (Antigone rubicunda) is a tall silver grey crane that lives in Australia and some parts of New Guinea. They inhabit freshwater wetlands, marshes, woodland swamps, pastures and wet meadows. Brolga is also known as the Australian Crane. They eat insects, crustaceans, mollusks, frogs, snakes and small mammals. The most characteristic vocalization of Brolga is a loud penetrating whooping or trumpeting.
