Those familiar with the Commordores may recognise this track but this is a Bobby original that he released some 6/7 years afterwards. The note selection of the lead guitar line just sounds so smooth and I always enjoy trying to figure out Caldwell songs, trying to hear where he's using some altered chords, even on more relatively simple progressions like this one. There's a couple of great concerts with Bobby in Japan, one of which he plays this track a bit more up tempo, so I recommend checking that out. Some of the videos have been uploaded by his backing vocalist of the time, Machan Taylor. She's pretty cool also! Again I'm using my Tri-Avatar tri chorus and some micro pitch and stereo delays in Logic to mimic the 'LA session playing' tone, this time from either Michael Thompson or Allen Hinds. I use a Charvel DK24 (it's purple) into a Boss Me50 (where I get my tone) into a Free The Tone Tri-Avatar (for my Tri Chorus) into a Palmer Pdi-09 (which simulated a mic'd up cab) into a Focusrite Scarlett into my computer running Logic Pro X (where I add a little EQ and Reverb and for the WDW setup some micro pitch and stereo delays).
