The song was written byby Hugh Martin and Ralph Blane and introduced by Judy Garland in the 1944 MGM musical Meet Me in St. Louis.
It has been covered by many artists in the following decades, including Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, The Pretenders, James Taylor.
