Disc 3: Monologues, highlights Evans’ solo works. “Peace Piece” is one of his best-known solo-piano pieces. In the box set’s liner notes, Neil Tesser writes, “’Peace Piece’ unfolds over a gentle two-chord vamp to become a rapturous, trancelike meditation.” This track was recorded on December 15, 1958, and originally appeared in 1959 on the album Everybody Digs Bill Evans (Riverside RLP 1129).
