Peter Tosh (1944–1987) was a Jamaican reggae musician, singer, and activist, best known as a founding member of The Wailers alongside Bob Marley and Bunny Wailer. Born Winston Hubert McIntosh on October 19, 1944, in Westmoreland, Jamaica, Tosh was a key figure in popularizing reggae and was a fierce advocate for equal rights, justice, and the legalization of marijuana.

After leaving The Wailers in the mid-1970s, Tosh launched a successful solo career, releasing influential albums like Legalize It (1976) and Equal Rights (1977). His music was deeply political, addressing themes of oppression, African unity, and resistance. Known for his commanding stage presence and militant spirit, Tosh’s contributions to reggae and Rastafarian culture remain significant.

Tragically, he was murdered during a home invasion in 1987. Despite his untimely death, his legacy as a revolutionary artist and activist continues to inspire generations worldwide.
