There are actually a few who take a deep plunge into the musical ocean to examine the bedazzling facets. One of them is Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta; her incredible devotion to the music has made her into an icon of dexterity and her voice touches the thousand hearts at one go. Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, a Bengali musician, and exponent of Rabindra Sangeet. Apart from Rabindrasangeet, Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta also shines in Sanskrit hymns, South Indian and English as well as Scottish and Irish original versions of the translated songs of Tagore. She has performed Bhajans and devotional songs in Gujarati temples and South Indian temples abroad. She has also sung the Ramayana in Rabindra Sangeet style. She has 10 albums of her self-composed Modern songs. Her challenging experiment with Indian classical, Semi-classical and light Classical, Western classical music, fusion music, and modern songs has given her creations a separate identity and a signature style. She is being honored with the Millennium Kalakar Award for her outstanding contribution to Indian Music.
