Description
Leroy M. Bell and Casey James hit it big on with their own composition "Livin It Up (Friday Night)" in 1979 after years of writing music for the likes of The O'Jays, MFSB and Teddy Pendergrass on the Philadelphia International label. You see, Leroy Bell was the nephew of none other than Thom Bell, who started off as a session player and ended up being in the Gamble/Huff/Bell triumvirate of writers known as Mighty Three Music. Bell & James were band members of Special Blend, and formed a duo when that band broke up. Livin' It Up was a sizable hit, peaking at #15 on the Hot 100.
