Calvin Griffin has recently received his Master of Music degree in
Vocal Performance at Rice University. At The Shepherd School, Mr.
Griffin has played the roles of Don Alfonso in Così fan tutte, the title
role in Volpone, and Polinesso in Ariodante. Mr. Griffin made his
Houston Symphony debut as First Apprentice in Wozzeck last year.
Last summer Mr. Griffin covered Leporello in Don Giovanni at the Des
Moines Metro Opera Studio program. He has also participated in Wolf
Trap Studio and Brevard performances. This summer, Mr. Griffin will
be singing the title role in Gianni Schicchi at the Aspen Music Festival.
Mr. Griffin received his Bachelor's Degree from The Ohio State
University. He is very excited to be making his Arizona Opera debut in
the roles of Bob Becket in HMS Pinafore, Colline in La bohème, Dr.
Grenville in La traviata, and The Notary as well as covering Don
Pasquale in Don Pasquale.

Satoko Hayami is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in piano chamber music and accompanying at Rice University, having already received a master's degree in Collaborative Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music, in both programs as a student of Virginia Weckstrom. She earned her bachelor's degree in piano performance from Florida Gulf Coast University. Among her many performances throughout a year, this past April, Satoko performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. as a representative of Rice University as part of the Conservatory Project. In this year's Aspen Music Festival, Satoko is part of the "Overtures: Preconcert Chamber Music" series on every Friday which feature the festival's piano faculties and their students on Mozart piano sonatas, and will be performing in Harris Concert Hall. This is her first time to be in Aspen, and she has been having a wonderful time in this beautiful place.
