Here’s Howi Spangler explaining in the song’s meaning:

“The title might throw people off at first. We’re best known for our upbeat, beach songs. It’s actually a sad song. It’s pretty personal. My dad passed away about 18 months ago. The way I felt the following weeks and months after was something I hadn’t felt since my mom died when I was a kid. The darkness and sadness was really brutal. Even now as an adult with a family of my own, it just took me right back. So I tapped into those feelings of laying in my teenage bedroom, ditching my friends, looking up at the ceiling and wishing I could escape. Feeling like a depressed loser. 'Here comes another Maryland Summer and I’m such a bummer, gotta get up off the ground’. I knew I had to pull myself out of it but on my own terms. It was a heavy time in my life and I felt I had to write about it.

The art shows the lighthouse at Concord Point in Havre de Grace where I live. We scattered my dad's ashes off the pier in the background there. Its always been a special place since I was a kid but now when we go out on the boat with friends I feel like he's there with us."
