Today starts the centenary year for Pt. Kumar Gandharva.
And on this auspicious occasion, I'm starting a new project, called Kumarji - 100 Years X 100 Bandishes. Over the space of a year, I aim to publish 100 videos with compositions of Pt. Kumar Gandharva, along with long-form articles on each of those compositions on medium (Link below):

"Avadhoota Gagan Ghata" is a kabir nirguni bhajan composed by Kumarji, and it holds a special place in my heart because listening to this is my first memory of Kumarji. I perform a free-form rendition of this bhajan during sunset in a naturally beautiful park close to my home. Feel free to read more about why I chose this piece and my thoughts about the bandish.
