Description
Well DC-5 fans I have had numerous requests for this song. I ad it done Xmas eve but I decided to make it even better and spent an addition 2 hours tweaking instruments and vocals. It sounds like it was lit with a stick of dynamite.
I didn't have the best recording to work with either and let me explain. The original recording has all compression and no dynamics and the whole recording is overblown with reverb. I had to take several steps to correct this so it has a nice stereo bounce to it.
I used Epiphone electric 6 on both channels (right channel G instead of A) That basically brings back the electric guitars washed out from the reverb.
No matter what I did to this song I could not get it to rock
without adding back snare drum, base drum, tom toms & cymbal crashes. That was the turning point that kept me from scraping the entire song. The tambourine and clapping helped out even more.
I put that clapping in Xmas morning when I re tweaked all the tracks.
A word on the vocals. They remind me of the Beatle song "Please
Please Me" come on, come on--it's alright, it's alright! That thought came to me as I was adding vocals so it has that similar style.
That makes it more pronounced! I also put some ripping guitar leads
at certain sections that I would have like to hear in the original.
I really have to use the trimmers on the sound board and computers
EQ (back to back) to get those wild guitar sounds. I learned that from George Martin when the Beatles were laying down the lead guitar part to "Nowhere Man". I think they shot of the treble up 5 times normal setting if i remember correctly. Anyway hope you DC-5 fans can grove to this monster in the headphones. I thought mine were going to explode!
