N.B. Because of the speed, repetitons are omitted (in the English lyrics). They would literally go:

"I would make my way to the two bottoms, the two bottoms,
I would make my way to the two bottoms of two barrels" (and so on)


Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh learnt the song "An Bairille" from the singing of "an Pound" (Seamus Beag Ó Luing), a great storyteller, raconteur, wit and Irish language exponent from Dún Chaoin/Dunquin (a Gaeltacht village in west County Kerry), who passed away in 1975
