MIT neuroscientists reveal that a unique combination of light and sound can dramatically improve cognitive and memory impairments, similar to those seen in Alzheimer's patients.
Through noninvasive treatment, this discovery induces brain waves known as gamma oscillations, and reduces the number of amyloid plaques found in the brains of mice. These plaques were cleared in areas critical for learning and memory, sparking hope that this treatment may work on human patients.
Li-Huei Tsai, director of MIT’s Picower Institute for Learning and Memory, has already performed preliminary safety tests of this type of stimulation in humans.
Research shows that patients must listen to
this sound for 1 hour per day every day
for sustained benefits...

What Are Binaural Beats:
When two tones of slightly different frequencies are played in separate ears simultaneously (usually through headphones), the human brain perceives the creation of a new, third tone, whose frequency is equivalent to the difference between the two tones being played. This auditory illusion is called a binaural beat. For example, if a person hears a tone of 405 Hz in one ear and a tone of 415 Hz in the other, they would be hearing a binaural beat with a frequency of 10 Hz.
Binaural beats are said to provide many of the same benefits as meditation: lower stress, increase focus, aid with sleep and relaxation, boost mood, assist with pain management, and foster creativity.
The 5 Different Waves:
- Delta (up to 4 hz): Sleeping, some attention tasks
- Theta (4-7 hz): Drowsiness, inaction, inhibition in response to stimuli
- Alpha (8-13 hz): Inhibition, relaxation
- Beta (14-30 hz): Alertness, normal concentration
- Gamma (31-100+ hz): More extreme forms of sensory stimulation
