A Fahrtenlied, or ride song, is a song sung by Boy Scouts , Wandervogel , boy groups, or other members of the youth movement. The Wandervogel specifically was a popular German youth group from 1896 to 1933 that protested against Industrialisation. They did this by hiking in the country and commune with nature in the woods.
The youth movement was a cultural movement among the middle-class youth of Germany in the first third of the 20th century, opposing urban life, especially the urbanisation.
