In this song, we stand with Yakob at the banks of the Yabbok, wrestling through the night for a blessing that will change his name and his destiny. His all-night struggle mirrors our own battles in life, in doubt, pain, and perseverance, until we refuse to let go. At that moment, Elohim meets us in our weakness, renames us Yisrael, and sends us forward empowered by grace. As the prophet Yirmeyahu declares, “I will be the Elohim of all the families of Yisrael, and they shall be my people” (Jeremiah 31:1).
