Description
Produced by Peter Asher, with Paul McCartney on bass guitar and George Harrison among the backing vocalists, “Carolina In My Mind” was one of the songs that he recorded in 1968 at the Apple studios in London for his debut solo LP “James Taylor.” The initial U.S. 45 single release of the song (full-length LP version) attracted only minor attention in the spring of ’69, but it was reissued in late 1970 in this shorter edited version as Taylor’s profile was on the rise following the great success of the LP “Sweet Baby James” and its hit single “Fire And Rain.” With the Apple original unavailable in popular widespread reissue over the decades, it has been Taylor’s more laid-back 1976 Warner Bros. re-recording of “Carolina In My Mind” that has been almost exclusively heard.
