Description

From the Rick Colom Collection: One of 1931’s greatest song hits, along with the also-posted flipside “In The Merry Month Of Maybe,” were written for “Billy Rose’s Crazy Quilt,” a 79-performance 1931 revue that featured Fanny Brice, Phil Baker, and Ted Healy among the cast.

“Frank Auburn” was a pseudonym commonly seen on various dime store labels to represent the works of several well-known recording artists, including Ben Selvin, Harry Reser, Fred Rich, Sam Lanin, Phil Spitalny and others.

78rpm Velvet Tone 2404-V (also issued on other Columbia-owned labels) - I Found A Million Dollar Baby (In A Five And Ten Cent Store) (Warren-Rose-Dixon) by Ben Selvin & his Orchestra (as Frank Auburn), with vocal trio (as Robert Wood), recorded in NYC May 28, 1931
