Henlo~! I'm Jhona and this is my Manatsu no Kajitsu cover (真夏の果実 カバー) originally by the Japanese band, Southern All Stars (サザンオールスターズ), Sazan (サザン) or just SAS. This is the Japanese original song where the OPM song, Isang Tanong, Isang Sagot by Donna Cruz was based on. It is also used as one of the soundtracks of the movie, Inamura Jane (稲村ジェーン) which is directed by none other than Keisuke Kuwata (桑田 佳祐), the frontman of Southern All Stars.✨

I’m back with a new cover! It’s not from an anime or tokusatsu series but it’s a movie soundtrack this time. I chose to sing Manatsu no Kajitsu by Southern All Stars because this song’s message is timely in this time of the year which is manatsu (真夏) or midsummer and I learned that Inamura Jane, the movie it’s from is releasing/or has released a Blu-ray and DVD version this year. So to my Japanese listeners, if you didn’t know about it, you may want to check that out! 😉

Aside from that, this song is quite familiar to me not because of the original Japanese but because of the OPM version which I grew up with. It’s Isang Tanong, Isang Sagot by one of my favorite Filipino singers back then, Donna Cruz. 💖 Then back in the early 2000s, I learned that the song is actually based on a Japanese song. The meaning of the Filipino lyrics is really far from the Japanese original, though. So please check out the English translation in this video and see for yourself. 😅

Aside from the Filipino/Tagalog version by Donna Cruz, there are quite a lot of other versions of this song as well. There are a number of Chinese versions, and even an English version! Here are the song titles and artists if you want to listen to them:
