حاشا قلبي في حبِّهِ
My heart could never turn away from his love
عن من يهواهُ أعرضَا
From the one it adores, it would never turn away
لو فاحُ وردُ دربِهِ
If the scent of his path’s roses filled the air
للبابِ طفلاً ركَضا
A child would run to his door
مَرميًّا في أعتابِهِ
Falling at his doorstep
مُلقىً في أحضانِ الرّضا
Lying between the arms of al-Rida (a.s.)

كم حسرةٍ. أقصُّها
How many sighs I recount
يا سامعاً. على اختلافِها لغاتِ الناسِ
O You who understands every language of mankind
يا رحمةً. نحسُّها
O mercy we can feel
سحابةً. تفيضُ بالحنانِ والإحساسِ
Like a cloud overflowing with tenderness
صوتُ الحنينِ. ينبضُ
The voice of longing beats
بقلبِ مَن. يشتاقُ عندَ رنّةِ الأجراسِ
In the heart of the one who yearns at the sound of bells

وما حسبي. ذُبتُ من الحبِّ. رضا
What’s come over me? I’ve melted from love of al-Rida (a.s.)
وما صنعي. يسبقُني دَمعي. رضا
What can I do, when my tears precede me—O al-Rida (a.s.)?
وما قولي. في لحظةِ الوَصلِ. رضا
What words can I say in the moment of union—O al-Rida (a.s.)?

طيراً في اعتابِ الحرَم
Like a bird at the doorstep of the shrine
والقلبُ قرَّ واطمئن
And the heart finds peace and stillness
في حينٍ زالَ كلُّ هم
In a moment, every sorrow vanishes
وانحلّت عُقداتُ الزمن
And the knots of time are undone
لاح الضوءُ يُردي الظُلَم
A light appears that destroys the darkness
مذ ناديتُ يا بالحسن
Ever since I called out, “O son of al-Hasan (a.s.)”

سلطانُ ذي. زوّارُه
The Sultan—his visitors are
تُكرَّمُ. قبيلَ أن تُطأطِئ أو تجثو
honored before they bow or kneel
أيُسألُ. الغوثَ وفي
Could one ask for aid, while
التّوسُّلِ. بإسمِ أمِّهِ البتولِ الغوثُ
The name of his mother al-Batul (a.s.) is itself the plea?
يا رحمةَ. اللهِ بنا
O mercy of Allah upon us
الغيثُ لذا. ينزَّلُ على يديهِ الغيثُ
The downpour descends—upon his hands falls the rain of mercy

بلى يُكفى. من جاءكم ضيفا. رضا
Indeed, whoever comes to you as a guest, O al-Rida (a.s.), is fulfilled
لنا شكوى. يا كاشف البلوى. رضا
We bring our complaint, O reliever of affliction—O al-Rida (a.s.)
وما خبنا. إذا بكم لُذنا . رضا
And we are never let down when we seek refuge in you—O al-Rida (a.s.)

ذِكرى عندي يا سيّدي
A memory I hold, O my master
تدري لمّا وَدَّعتُكا
Do you remember when I bid you farewell?
والجفنُ فضّاحٌ نَدي
My eyelid exposed my tears, still wet
سرّي همساً أسمَعتُكا
And I whispered my secret to you
فوق الصدرِ كانت يَدي
My hand was upon your chest
آهٍ ثمَّ استَودَعتُكَا
Ah… then I placed my soul in your care

ارجو النجا. بحبِّكم
I seek salvation through your love
وقربكم. يا ضامنَ الغزالِ فاضمَن عُمري
And I seek nearness to you, O Guarantor of the Gazelle—guarantee my life
وأنتَ من . قلتَ بأن
You are the one who said:
من زارني. في غربَتي أزورُهُ في القبرِ
“Whoever visits me in my exile, I will visit him in his grave”
من ثمّ يا. مولاي هل
So then, O my master, will you
تزورُني. وتؤنسُ عليَّ همَّ الحشرِ
Visit me and ease the sorrow of the Day of Resurrection?

ولي مطلَب. قُبَيل أن أذهب. حسين
I have but one request before I depart— Hussein (a.s.)
بأن أُدعى. لكربلا اسعى. حسين
To be called—to strive toward Karbala— Hussein (a.s.)
إلى الكهفِ. لسيّدِ الطفِّ. حسين
To the refuge, to the Master of al-Taff— Hussein (a.s.)
