Description

The 'Sathya Sai Suprabhatam' has been the morning prayer of Sathya Sai devotees for decades, a composition heralding the awakening of the Avatar, chanted first thing in the morning by devotees around the world.

Originally composed by Duupaati Tirumalacharya, this prayer requests the Lord to bless His devotees by granting them Darshan in order to begin the activities and work of the day.

To this day, devotees of Sathya Sai Baba who are dedicated to His mission and message of 'Love All Serve All' chant this prayer daily and begin the day with such Divine thoughts.

Lyrics:

īśvarāmbāsuta śrīman pūrvā sandhyā pravartate
uttiṣṭha satyasāyīśa kartavyaṁ daivamāhnikam
uttiṣṭhottiṣṭha partīśa uttiṣṭha jagatīpate
uttiṣṭha karuṇāpūrṇa loka mangala siddhaye ||1||

citrāvatītaṭa viśāla suśānta saudhe
tiṣṭhanti sevaka janāstava darśanārtham
ādityakāntiranubhāti samasta lokān
śrī satyasāyi bhagavan tava suprabhātam ||2||

tvannāma kīrtanaratāstava divyanāma
gāyanti bhakti rasapāna suhṛṣṭaćittāḥ
dātuṁ krupāsahita darśanamāśutebhyaḥ
śrī satyasāyi bhagavan tava suprabhātam ||3||

ādāya divya kusumāni manoharāṇi
śrīpāda pūjanavidhiṁ bhavadaṅghrimūle
kartuṁ mahotsukatayā praviśanti bhaktāḥ
śrī satyasāyi bhagavan tava suprabhātam ||4||

deśāntarāgata budhāstava divyamūrtiṁ
sandarśanābhirati saṁyuta ćittavṛttyā
vedokta mantrapaṭhanena lasantyajasraṁ
śrī satyasāyi bhagavan tava suprabhātam ||5||

śrutvā tavādbhuta ćaritramakhaṇḍa kīrtiṁ
vyāptāṁ digantara viśāla dharātale’smin
jijñāsu lokamupatiṣṭhati ćāśrame’smin
śrī satyasāyi bhagavan tava suprabhātam ||6||

sītāsatīsama viśuddha hṛdambujātāḥ
bahvaṅganāḥ karagṛhīta supuṣpahārāḥ
stunvanti divyanutibhiḥ phaṇibhūṣaṇaṁ tvāṁ
śrī satyasāyi bhagavan tava suprabhātam ||7||

suprabhātamidaṁ puṇyaṁ ye paṭhanti dine dine
te viśanti parandhāma jñāna vijñāna śobhitāḥ
maṅgalaṁ gurudevāya maṅgalaṁ jñānadāyine
maṅgalaṁ partivāsāya maṅgalaṁ satyasāyine ||8||

Meaning:

1. O Son of īśvarāmbā, dawn is breaking out in the east.
The daily tasks of Divinity which You have undertaken have to be accomplished. Therefore, arise, oh satya sāyi.
Arise! O Lord of parti! Arise! O Lord of the Universe!
Arise! O Compassion Personified, so that there shall be auspiciousness in the world.

2. In the vast praśānti nilayam which is on the banks
of the river citrāvatī.
Those eager to serve You are waiting to have Your darshan,
Oh satya sāyi, we wish You an auspicious morning.

3. People are engaged in singing Your divine glory by chanting Your holy name,
With immense devotion and pure intentions.
Kindly shower Thy Grace by granting them Thy darshan.
Oh satya sāyi, we wish You an auspicious morning.

4. Devotees are bringing fragrant flowers with great enthusiasm,
to worship Thy Lotus Feet as prescribed in scriptures.
Devotees are waiting with great eagerness.
Oh satya sāyi, we wish You an auspicious morning.

5. Learned people from many different countries have come,
yearning to have Your Divine darshan,
And are constantly chanting with great
delight the veda mantrās.
Oh satya sāyi, we wish You an auspicious morning.

6. After having heard Thy marvelous stories and endless glory,
And Thy fame that has spread to the farthest horizons,
earnest seekers of reality have come here and are waiting.
Oh satya sāyi, we wish You an auspicious morning.

7. Devotees (ladies) who are pure hearted like mother sītā,
Are holding garlands and singing Thy glory.
They sing Thy glory, Oh Lord who is adorned by the serpent.
Oh satya sāyi, we wish You an auspicious morning.

8. Whoever recites this morning awakening Hymn daily,
Will attain the Highest Abode with supreme intelligence as well as supreme wisdom.
Let the auspicious dawn upon us through satya sāyi who is guru, bestower of knowledge, and who resides in puṭṭaparti.
